Once In A Lifetime

Hello! Hello!  And happy Thursday to you!

I have today my last DT layout to show off with Sketchabilities.  Its a bittersweet moment for me.  My term has come to an end and I have really enjoyed creating with Karan's sketches.  But yet, I'm excited to get on with my summer!  Its such a short season for us and I'm a summertime outdoorsey kind of gal!

Ok, now on to this week's sketch #92...

and my take...

This is me experiencing my "once in a lifetime" moment with Keith Urban.  He is my all time favorite guy and I'm crushing on him badly!  Mind you, this happened in 2002 but I'm still crushing on him!!

For this layout I used Soho Garden by American Crafts.  I absolutely love this collection!  Its so bright and cheery!

The cluster was made with cordinating cardstock shapes and layered embellishment shapes from this same collection.  I used my banner punch to make the banners.  Such a good way to use up paper scraps.  Also, did you notice my Keith Urban flair!  Oh my goodness, how awesome is that!?  It was custom made for me by The Paper Bakery!  Check them out!  Tons of variety in flair to choose from.  That's a speciality of theirs.

I also added some random sequins throughout my layout to add some shine, and I turned my background paper upside down for a different look.  I like it.  How about you?  Do you turn your papers upside down?  I know it makes some scrappers cringe.  Haha!

Well, that's it for today.  I hope I've inspired you in some way.  Stop by Sketchabilities and join in with us this week.  Thanks for much for stopping by!

three of us

Hello and happy Memorial Day to you!  Do you have the day off?  I do and we're spending it at our lakehouse.  Actually we've been here throughout the whole holiday weekend!  Let the summer begin, right?

Today I have a layout to show off from Nuts About Sketches.  But first the sketch...

and my take...

This is our son showing off his new baby girl!  Molly was born July 20, 2012 and has been an absolute joy since coming into this world!  She is the first grandbaby so you can just imagine all the attention she gets!  As the saying goes.... and baby makes three!  And they couldnt be happier!

For this layout I used Catching Fall by lilybeedesign.  Its an older collection that I cant seem to part with so why not use it up.  I really like how the colors make my photo pop!  The banners are made from misc printed papers I had in my stash.  I used paper punches to make them and glued twine down as its rope.

The triangles are cordinating stickers that are part of this collection.  I outlined a few with marker to highlight them.  I covered my small shipping tag with washi tape and added the title to it.

I just had to show off my journaling strips.  They were created from my latest eBay buy!  A 1960's Oylmpia Deluxe typerwriter.  It has a wide carriage to support 12x12 paper and it types in cursive!  I'm so excited about this.  I've been looking for quite awhile.  It's so cool to use!

Go check out Nuts About Sketches and join in this week if you can!
Thanks so much for stopping by.  Enjoy your day!

Mega Meet

Hello!  Hello!
How was your weekend?  Mine was a good one!  The weather just keeps getting warmer and warmer and I'm just loving it up!

With it being Monday and the start of a new week that means a new sketch is up at Let's Get Sketchy!  Please check it out and join in with us!

and here is my take on it...

This is me at Mega Meet in 2011.  My shirt was voted "the best" for that year and I was posted on their Facebook page.  I felt like such a superstar!  It was quite flattering.

For this layout I used Lucille by Basic Grey.  I really like the muted earthy tones in this line.

I changed up the sketch on this one.  After picking out a variety of patterned paper I punched out circles with my 2" punch and arranged them as a layered border, added some cordinating wooden buttons to top it off.  As for my journaling, I printed line by line from the computer and printed it on a piece of the same background paper, lightly inking the edges.  I do like a computer font from time to time, instead of my handwriting.  I feel it gives it a more cleaner look.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you join in this week at Let's Get Sketchy and happy scrapping!

Oh Happy Day

Hello Hello and happy Monday to you!

Today I have my DT layout created from sketch #266 at Nuts About Sketches

This is my daughter and I having a drink, celebrating her 21st birthday.  CHEERS to her!

For this layout I used Gumball by Lilybee Designs as the background and the strips of chevron paper is by Studio Calico.  I have slowly been getting into the habit of mixing papers and I like the flexibility of doing this.  It gets me out of my scrappy box.

I wanted to give you a closer look at the background hearts, I touched up some random white ones with stickles to add a little shimmer.

That's it for now.  Check out Nuts About Sketches and join in on this weeks sketch, if you can!  I'd love to see what you come up with.  Its a fun sketch with lots of possibilities...

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the day and happy scrapping to you!

Party Artsy

Hello and happy Wednesday to you!

With it being the 15th of the month, that means a new sketch is up at Sketchabilities.  It's a fun one with so many possibilites!  You have two weeks to complete it so I hope you can join in.

Sketch #91

Here is my take on it

This is me at my first "Wine and Canvas".  I have never painted in my life and check out my painting!  Oh, I will defintely be doing this again.  It was so much fun!

For this layout I used Fact by Basic Grey.  The flowers and journal card, which has an overlay over it, are cordinating embellishments from the same line.

The filmstrip border is by Tim Holtz and I dug into my scrappy stash finding some rainbow colored fuzzy twine to add to my border. I attached some wooden chevrons to my stitched lines, which are roller stamps by Glitz, and a few stray buttons to top it off.

That's it for now.  I hope I've inspired you enough to join in or to check out Sketchabilities for more inpiration.  It's full of talented designers!

Thanks for stopping by!

you & me & 3D

Happy Monday scrappy friends!

Its a new week, meaning a new sketch is up at Let's Get Sketchy!  It's a good one which includes a sunburst!  That seems to be one of the latest fads right now so I hope you find time to join in with us.  I'd love to see what you come up with.

I really struggled with this one.  I've never done a sunburst before but I absolutely love the looks of it when I view other layouts.  I ended up lifting a sunburst photo from the internet, printing it out in 12x12 and cutting it up to use as a stencil.  I do have to say I'm very happy with my outcome!

This is my son and I enjoying some time together and taking in a 3D movie.  I just had to get a picture of us in those nerdy glasses!  So fun!

For this layout I used Soho Garden by American Crafts.  I absolutely love this line.  The colors are so bright and happy!  Perfect choice for that day spent with my boy.

I chose mulitple colors and cut out each burst made from my homemade stencil *ha*

I also saved the ticket stubs and tucked them behind the picture, adding some cordinating stickers and a fun flair piece and that was it!  Again, I struggled with this one but you cant tell it!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Happy scrapping to you and I hope to see your sunburst layout uploaded this week at Let's Get Sketchy!

2x the fun

Hello!  Hello!  And happy National Scrapbooking Day!  I'd have to say this may be one of the coolest days ever!  How did you spend yours?  I spent mine hosting a houseful of scrappy friends!

Ok, I'm cutting it really close this time, with only 2 hours left to get it in!  This is my layout for The Paper Bakery challenge, sketch #2.

This is my daughter and her best friend taking a night time plunge into the lake.  I say to them "Oh, go jump in a lake!"  And they do just that!!

This layout was made with the April kit from The Paper Bakery.  The background paper is Color Me Happy Hearts by Glitz and the chevron is a vellum paper.  I spritzed the doilies with cordinating colors and cut strips of paper for my journaling, added my title, some wooden butterflies and topped it off with a paper hot air balloon tied with twine.

Here was the sketch to follow...

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope to see you back!
