This was meant to be

With my term coming to and end at Scrap Our Stash and this being my last layout I'm feeling a little bittersweet as I type up my blog post.  I'm really looking forward to more freedom for the summertime since it is such a busy season for me.  But I will miss designing for SOS as well.  As the saying goes... All good things must come to an end.

With that being said here it is, my last SOS DT layout for the current sketch challenge this month.  We've got a little twist with this challenge... you must create a card with your leftover scraps from your layout.  How fun, right?!

Aww, last month marked 1 year for my handsome son and his beautiful girlfriend. These two make such a lovely couple and I can't show them off enough!

This was such a fun sketch to work with and it gave me the opportunity to use up some of these heart doilies that I've had laying around for a few months. I decided to offset them with the black and white printed papers because I just love that contrast. Also laying around in my stash (for a very long time) was that tin heart and this was the perfect opportunity to use it as well.

As I stated earlier, you must create a card as well so to complete this challenge.  My card was made from the scrap paper of my layout, also adding a heart doilie and continuing with a love theme.

I do have to say, my stash pile is getting smaller and smaller and I have to credit Scrap Our Stash for that!  Now it's your turn!  Please join in with us and be sure to link up before June 29 for your chance at becoming one of our top 3 picks and/or for your chance to win a great prize!  Full challenge rules can be found here.

Thanks so much for stopping by and as always, happy scrapping to you!

Feeling the Love

I'm up at Scrap Our Stash again today with my layout for this month's stash challenge - BRADS.  I know that I always say this and I'm going to say it again... I just LOVE these stash challenges!  They really motivate you to dig deep and to use up your stash.  And come on, we all have a scrappy stash to use up.

These are my babies and... Oh yes, I feel the love... 100%!!  I'm one proud momma!

I dug into my February scrapbook kit from Gossamer Blue for this challenge and used up some leftover paper scraps.  For my chevron design I just punched out squares and cut them diagonally in half, placing them accordingly.  Finishing up by adding a title, some ribbon and mist splatters.

To complete this stash challenge I used:

B - brads
R - ribbon
A - alpha tile stickers
D - diecuts
S - scrap paper, splatters

Now it's your turn!  Go have some fun with it and get some of that stash pile of yours used up!  Be sure to upload with Scrap Our Stash before July 29th for you chance to win!  Full challenge rules here.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  And as always, Happy Scrapping to you!

"Chalk Popping" tutorial for My Creative Scrapbook

Hello crafty friends!
I'm so excited to share with you today my first ever picture tutorial!

I am a Guest Designer for My Creative Scrapbook this month and I'd like to share with you on how to create the "chalk popping" technique and then make it into an embellishment.  I had the pleasure of creating this embellishment from the camera acrylic stamp in the June Main Kit.

First you'll need to gather your supplies:

decorating chalks - any kind will do
VersaMark ink pad
acrylic stamp - any type stamp will work
acrylic stamp block - if needed
white cardstock
Q-tip

Step 1
ink your mounted stamp with VersaMark ink.

Step 2
stamp the image onto the white cardstock.

Step 3
brush chalk with the Q-tip over the VersaMark ink, making the image pop.

Step 4
cut the chalked image from the cardstock, leaving as much of a border as you'd like.

Step 5
DONE!  Just add to your layout!

Easy peasy, right!?  And so cute!
I do hope that you give this technique a try and put those decorating chalks to work.

To those considering a monthly kit club, please check out My Creative Scrapbook!  Here's a look at the June Main Kit

Thanks for stopping by and giving me your time.
Enjoy the day and happy scrapping to you!

M & G

Hello friends!  Happy Sunday to you!

Today we have a new challenge for you at Challenge YOUrself and guess what?  It's a free for all... Anything Goes this month!  How fun is that?!  Here is my layout to share with you.

Aww, just look at my little sidekick!  My grandaugher Molly is always up for taking some selfies with Grammie!  I just love this little girl to pieces.

I have so many of these project life style papers and I don't scrap in that style so I was determined to use one and experiment with using it as my background paper.  I have to say that I'm happy with the way it turned out!  What do you think?  I was afraid it would be too loud for me but with printing my pics in B&W it really toned it down and worked out really well.

Here are a few close ups...

The background paper is a Dear Lizzy by American Crafts and the die cuts are Amy Tangerine.  The other embellishments are a mixture from my stash.  I had fun experimenting with this so I hope I've inspired you to do the same.

Join in with us at Challenge YOUrself this month!  It couldn't be any easier than an Anything Goes challenge!  It's time to show off your style!  I look forward to seeing your designs. For more inspiration give us a visit.  So many ideas!  Be sure to include YOU in the picture and to link up by July 4th for a chance to win.

Thanks so much for your time and for stopping by!
Happy Scrapping to you!
